Latest South African hype: Robbing charities
Marang House once again made headlines this week after an armed robbery took place at another children's charity in Johannesburg just two days before Christmas. Two men visited the
Princess Alice Adoption Home in Westcliff pretending to be dropping off a donation of nappies. When the guys were inside the house they pulled a gun and demanded money. According to an article in the local Northcliff/Melville Times newspaper, they 'casually' left after ten minutes with some cash, a watch and a necklace.
Some of the recent
incidents of crime at Marang House were also mentioned in the article as it almost seems that robbing charities is turning into some sort of a hype in South Africa. After all the problems we have had this year at Marang House, I can just imagine what they must be going through at the Princess Alice Adoption Home and I really hope that attacking children's charities is not going to turn into a hype. It is really the last thing we need.

Back in SA
I’m back in South Africa and after three weeks of living in miserable weather in the Netherlands I nearly forgot what the sun looks like. Luckily, I only had to step out of the plane to be reminded what it means to live in a country with a pleasant climate. I had a lot of meetings during my stay in Holland and within the next few months we will have our Dutch based foundation up and running to actively start raising funds in the Netherlands.
Everything went well during the festive season and by now things have returned back to normal at
Marang House, which means that the kids have come back and the house has the 'happening' vibe again. Lorraine has also returned to Marang House to recover from her
transplant operation. All is going very well with her and hopefully she can go home soon. All the children are doing very well.
Ellis however is still admitted in hospital, but hopefully she will also return to Marang House as soon possible. We have also welcomed a few new children at the house. I will load their profiles on the
Marang House website ASAP and obviously write about all their activities on this blog.
We really have a lot of things in the pipeline this coming year. Please keep on visiting this blog to stay informed with all the exciting things that we have planned, I promise that I will not disappoint you!
